Dogs Treated With Cannabis Oil Experience Less Frequent Seizures, Study Finds – Marijuana Moment
Dogs with epilepsy experience considerably fewer seizures when treated with CBD oil, a new study published in the journal Pet Behaviour Science found. The small study—which followed three dogs receiving hemp-derived CBD treatment over the course of two months, indicates that dogs respond to the cannabis compound in a way that’s similar to humans. While this study was incredibly small, I am so glad the research has started! For me, this is personal. When my geriatric dog started having seizures last year, I asked her vet about CBD oil. She had no problem with it but she had no idea what dose I would need to manage the seizures. Thankfully, the seizure medication is doing its job. However, had her vet been able to give me a solid answer of what dose she’d need of CBD I probably would’ve gone that route as the side effects of her seizure meds can be challenging at times.
